A co-publisher of theHigh Point Enterprise, Terry first became involved with the College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998 when one of his nine beloved golden retrievers, Nike, fell ill. The superb care Nike received at NC State prompted Terry to join and later preside over the North Carolina Veterinary Medicine Foundation (NCVMF). In the final years of his life, he was致力于改善兽医医学。

More than twice the size of NC State’s original veterinary teaching hospital, the Terry Center is among the most advanced of its kind in the country. It realizes Terry’s vision of an outstanding environment where talented faculty and students can work at the forefront of veterinary medicine. And it combines with the college’s other extensive referral and emergency services to providecare for all those who need it。
“Like so many places at NC State, we’re providing a service to people,” says Fletcher. “In the Terry Center, we’ve got clients who are bringing their animals because they have a need, and we’ve got students learning how to apply the art and science of veterinary medicine to solving those problems.”

One of my Gordon Setter’s was treated for lymphoma there. Had it not been for those treatments we would have lost him quickly, as it turned out we got another 6 years with him. Mr. Terry started a great program.

Seeing this pop up on my computer as soon as I logged into to the browser made my whole day. What a lovely story right before finals- it has inspired me. I’m not personally in the veterinarian program however, I think it’s obvious what a kind soul Mr. Terry was. NCSU has such a strong family foundation and that’s one of the reasons I knew I belonged here. Thank you, Mr. Terry; your story will forever bring me hope that there are still extraordinary people in this world.
I just wanted to say, after reading this heartwarming story, that it’s such an honor to know how the veterinary school got so known and so big. I am not in the program but I am a lover of not only all animals but especially of golden retrievers like Mr. Terry! It’s an inspirational story and I just wanted to thank those who shared it.
