“His parents are from Syria so he and his brother have gone to Syria through United Muslim Relief to help the people there,” Abdel-Khalek said. “They felt it was important for them to take action in a positive way.”
That commitment to service was evident early to Lauren Brown, who was Barakat’s academic advisor in the Poole College of Management.

国家统计局freshman basketball player Abdul-Malik Abu forged an early relationship with Barakat when the young forward first arrived on campus from Boston last fall. He attended Barakat and Abu-Salha’s wedding on Dec. 27. Barakat was both an avid basketball fan and an intramural basketball standout.

Three young people, the best of our youth, destroyed by a disturbed man with a gun. This is a too familiar tale in our country. Honor these lovely human beings. Don’t support politicians who support the NRA. We have the highest rates of gun violence in the “civilized” world. My deepest sympathies to the families and friends of the victims.
I want to extend condolences to the families and friends of Yusor, Deah and Razan. This was indeed a beautiful family and as a graduate of the College of Design as well, the tragedy hits too close to home. Whether we knew them in person or not, it doesn’t take much work to see what selfless and inspired souls they all were. I pray that justice will be served for them and their families–if not in this world then surely in the next!
Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’oon. May Allah grant these meaningful souls eternal rest. Deah and Yusor, your good work to mankind in this world will surely be rewarded, insha’Allah. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family. May Allah find comfort for your family.
My daughter and Razan were best friends especially 9th grade and fall 2012 at ADHS, as my daughter graduated a semester ahead of Razan. Razan was instrumental walking my daughter through school life in America having recently migrated to the USA. Razan was a jewel and you all will not be forgotten.
