“Mom, watching music videos is my homework!”
Let’s face it: This generation of students absorbs information different than past generations. They are fed a constant stream of information – outside the classroom – through sites likeFacebook,YouTube和推特。那么,是否有任何疑问他们有很难从事静态教室的困难?
Teachers and school administrators understand that concept – but they are still struggling with how to utilize those same programs that students use for entertainment as actual teaching tools.
Luckily, they haveDr. Lodge McCammon。And with McCammon – they haveFIZZ。
Watch McCammon explain FIZZ
McCammon, a curriculum and contemporary media specialist in the星期五教育创新研究所,花他所有的时间inking about how to bring 21st century tools into the classroom to better engage students. His program, called FIZZ, originally began as a secure Web site that allows teachers and students to upload educational videos they make in the classroom. However, the program has evolved, and now FIZZ is considered a new way of teaching.Discovery Education, a leader in digital video-based learning, has contracted McCammon to help teach their 30,000+ group of tech-savvy teachers – called theDiscovery Educator Network– how to incorporate FIZZ into the classroom.
“它真的归结为三件事 - 参与,内容知识和课堂透明度,”McCammon解释道。“我们向教师展示了如何以实用的方式在教室里使用技术。”
McCammon will be taking his show on the road – traveling all over the country in 2010 – to meet with large groups of educators to inspire them using lesson simulations, showing them what a day at school with FIZZ would be like.

Thanks for posting such a terrific site. this blog was not only knowledgeable but also very inventive too. There normally are a limited number of bloggers who can create technical stuff that creatively. I look for articles about a subject like this. I have gone in detail through many websites to find knowledge regarding this!!!

Virginia – thanks for the compliment! We have a group of four of us here in the NC State News Services office that write on different topics – so it’s fun having a group of us with all different styles of writing. I have been blogging (a personal blog) for awhile now – and it’s something I really enjoy. Thanks for reading – and keep checking us out!

A group of fifth graders in Greenville love Lodge so much they dedicated a website to him. They speak of him with awe, and they love his music. They even download it to their ipods. The most frequent quote I hear is, “When are we going to do another Lodge video?” Another one’s coming soon!
